  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ketch, I don't have my own Dragon yet.

What I do have is a project so badass that Jarred decided to lend me a Dragon to shoot it... ;-)

The location is Marum volcano, Ambrym Island, Vanuatu, South Pacific.

Very remote, reachable only by helicopter...

Here for your own to arrive very soon Mike... And if I make it down under and still don't have yours but have Dragon M8 with me, then I'll be game to shoot with you any tie at any extremes... ;)

And yeah, Jarred is that kind of a guy... A hell of a guy!!

PS: If at all possible have some one shoot some BTS please... Love BTS... ;)
 
The gas masks aren't for show... the volcano pumps out dangerous quantities of sulphur dioxide, and when the wind blows the wrong way...

Home for the three weeks of the expedition... a cluster of tents in the middle of a lunar landscape, afflicted variously by howling winds, toxic gases, and blowing volcanic ash. Sometimes by all three simultaneously, such as the last couple of days... that's what we call the "acid sandpaper hurricane"...

Hell on earth really. But it has something very unique...

People associate volcanoes with the picture-book idea of boiling lakes of lava... but they're actually very rare. There are only four permanent (or at least long-term) lava lakes on the planet: Erta Ale and Nyiragongo (Africa, both in war zones), Erebus (Antarctica)... and Marum.

So, Dragon meets fire at the least worst lava lake to access. Shot for the first time in 6K...

Today was the first day the weather was good enough for a few minutes shooting; the weather here is always so bad it's a siege; you may have to wait two weeks for a couple of good enough days. But the early images are fucking insane, pardon my language:

Much more and better to come if the weather cooperates. No R3Ds or moving images for a while though; while we're still on the mountain we only have a seriously flaky amplified cellphone connection for data which gives us maybe 9600 baud... remember those? :-)

With luck, tomorrow or the day after, we go down that hole...
