Dragon with old Front-Fan: is it safe?

as I don't want to buy a new baseplate, I switched back to the "old" front-fan on my upgraded dragon.

Is this save?

You should be totally fine. Did this with an Optitek Nikon mount for the same reason as suggested from RED Germany.

I also switched back to the old front fan to use A-mount. The fan noise wasn't that bad.

I actually prefer the noise profile of the old front fan combined with the new top fan. It may be louder in dB but it has a less noticeable character IMO.

Clint, when I got my Epic upgraded to the Dragon, Red send me back the old front fan. Interestingly, they didn't send me back the old top fan.
It seems like Red already knew some owners may want to switch back to the old front fan for whatever the reason may be.

By the way, I just read that Allstar is doing free ($30 shipping extra) A-mount modification service so the mount can be used with the new front fan.
