i just picked up my upgraded epic-M dragon. i had a photo assignment, profiling a soccer athlete, so i suggested adding a motion component. i roped in my good friend rod bradley to operate. i shot stills, but was definitely hoping to be able to pull stills from the footage as well. we got some really great results, even shooting at 1/48th with still lenses. i was shooting with a canon mark III and i gotta say, file size notwithstanding, i'm much happier with the dragon stills. i still shoot on film (portra mostly) with medium-format cameras, and the dragon was much closer to the result i get with a properly exposed high-res scan of a medium format negative. really exciting. i'm going to tweak the settings on my mark III to see if i can get a flatter image.
the attached image was shot in mixed daylight/florescent lighting, really tough combination. and the treatment is pretty light. i tend to like things softer and flatter, milky blacks, light mid-tones. so i didn't do much to this.
