Where is any Dragon sensor footage? It boggles my mind that not only did they not release any footage before selling the sensor but that people are paying for the upgrade sight-unseen. I'm not saying I think it'll look bad, but come on, who buys a product without looking at it? Supposedly there are several cameras out there now with the new sensor but where is the footage?

Any one with links would be appreciated, my google search turns up nothing but a still of a fake lizard.

Do you think the images will be worse?

Red has arrived. Do you see a ton images being made available, from the Alexa or SONY before the release?

I don't see what is so shocking, but RED has delivered time and time again, so I am not worried.

Everyone will be blown away soon.

This is covered in another thread. Answer: Yup. I will lock my place in line and start shooting asap. No financial exchange has happened for anyone. I am sure we will see footage before any accounts are charged. Anyone who has locked it in, has just locked a place in line to obtain what we think is a wonderful upgrade as soon as possible. If the footage looks like poop, I'll cancel. Somehow, I think its going to be a nice enhancement.

Why are you picking on that lizard? That's just rude.

I saw on another string yesterday that there aren't any completed cameras in the field yet - sometime next week we should start to see footage.

Does anyone actually know someone who got the upgrade or were they all placeholders? (To be fair, that's fine by me - if they need to test it, they should test it...)

The upgrades at the show were the real deal. They will remain at RED until the new firmware is ready.

Ah. Thanks.

I don't think those upgrades happening at NAB were anyone's actual cameras. Those were probably Epics with MX sensors that Red had in stock and converted to Dragon for sale later on after the firmware is done. A marketing gimmick that seemed to work as now people think there's Epic Dragons out in the wild.

They said they just got the sensors and ASICs ands still needed to finish the firmware and color science before they'll be usable. I wouldn't expect Red to release footage for several weeks (could be less), and customer upgrades until mid-late summer. Could be sooner or later depending on how things go with the firmware and color science. That is all just my assumption though.

EDIT: Yeah, what Bob said.

They are complaining at Blackmagic's forum too.. no footage from the new cameras.. But people should understand that Nab's products sometimes are non finished prototypes.

A friend of mine told me once that RED is like a religion. You believe in Dragon but you haven't seen it :)

Amen

As has been pointed out with more eloquence than I can muster here, that lizard was not fake. It was a still pulled from motion of a real lizard.

It's very clearly a taxidermied lizard, unless live lizards are now wearing paint in their mouths.

Paint? What looks painted? Have you heard of color grading?

In any case, I'll let someone from RED clarify but I, too, seem to recall that someone in the RED community actually owns this pet lizard.

EDIT: And, FWIW, what difference does it make? I was pointing it out as a joke simply because someone earlier seemed sensitive about the poor lizard being mis-categorized as "fake."

Adam maybe this can help you to understand that Dragon Lizard is not so easy animal to handle !!!

Below is one Komodo Dragon Lizard footage online from Indonesia>>>>

So they're still working on the sensor to make sure it won't poison and kill you. Makes sense now.
