Noticed most people haven't been talking about it so I figured I'd mention in case anyone was curious...

Dragon works fine in FCPX. Real time playback, etc. No dropped frames for me off a Retina with a full 6k .R3D in FCPX. I can only imagine that the new Mac Pro will bring a significant performance boost to what is already working fine.

Also, since a few people have been asking about it... here's a link from a recent LACPUG where I talk about some of the stuff I've been doing with metadata, and why all of it matters. Starts to get good around the 16 minute mark.

On set post is here... and everything I'm showing here will only be getting faster, better, and easier in the coming months... and it's already pretty fast and easy.

Sam, good stuff! There's no doubt that metadata will continue to grow as an integral part of the creative process and it is interesting to see how Apple has implemented it in FCP X. As you say, anything that allows you to get to the creative part of editing quickly is a welcome addition.

I'm interested to hear your take on the future role of the assistant editor and how they will be able to leverage this metadata within their role so as to give editors a powerful palette to work from.

Is FCPX using GPU debaryering, or is the SDK for that stuff even close to being in the limelight?
