Dragon Front Fan

The Dragon front fan protrudes from front of camera which collides with various accessories including A mount and other devices.

Im told by a couple of friends that replacing the Dragon fan and metal work with the original Epic fan and metal work which is returned with the Dragon upgrade will work just fine.

Any one got any wisdom on this and will it affect warranty ?

V2.0 fans have always been described as optional. No issue

actually i was under the impression that you need the v2.0 fans for dragon? on the Epic its optional of course.

Assuming this is Dragon are they still optional ? My guess is just the added noise if using V1 fans.

I believe Phil (or someone similar) did a post about the 2.0 fans, noise, and temperature around release. By the end of the article, it sounded like the 2.0 Top Fan was the one that held the majority of the benefits.

No V1 is silenter than V2. V2 can blow more air when used higher than 70% fan speed.

I use V1 (and the FanPlate) on Dragon and it works just great.

you can buy a piece that compensates for the fan protrusion so matte boxes fit flush. I think it costs like $7.50

You can remove the fan cover and file down the area that is in the way of the mount. For the Optitek Nikon mount you just need to file down a little of the front tap area. Do this away from any equipment so no metal dust gets in it.
