  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon finally home again - here is the result

Hi guys,


My Dragon have been on the repair bench at RED for a month. It's a long time, and cost us a lot of money...
But, that put aside - the camera that returned are amazing, and nothing like what I sent in.
I sent it in because of the red noise in shadows and a weird sensor pattern that appeared occasionally.

Anyway - I have no clue what they did in there, but here is a image extracted with A.D.D and it's kind of amazing....... if you ignore the fact that the sharpness is at the right eye ;)

So, your camera does not present red noise in shadows anymore? At all?

No it does not. I don't even see the difference when applying DEB. I sure did that before - a lot. But now, it doesn't seem to change anything.
There is still red noise when I boot the camera up with the sensor reading 22c and then go to ISO 2000. Then it's noisy but it goes away as the temperature rises.

Viktor I looked at your old thread where you were told the examples you posted were due to sensor temp/black shading. Was that not the case? Did RED fix this or another problem?

But can I ask you please?
Why the fix cost you a lot of money? Are Red charged you for repair service? Or do you mean just the cost of a tranfer? Clarify please. Thank you!
 
Viktor, could you photograph a low light situation and post a R3D please. Also, what OLPF version do you have installed?

I would guess that the time he spent without his camera made him loose business...

Until Victor provides some lower light examples it will be hard to judge if his camera has indeed been "fixed" to be less noisy than other Dragons.
 
Which raises the inevitable question if true: "Is my camera functioning 'to spec'"? Prepare for everybody posting an R3D of their lens cap for comparison.

*Ok guilty, I'll do it too.
 
Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of response. Just been a tad busy! Tonight I will shoot some low light examples for you to glare at.

- I basically haven't had a camera since start of June and that made the business bleed $$$. That is what I meant. I hope it clarifies.

No idea if they changed the OLPF. Can I see that in the meta data or something like that?
