Dragon Color Science ...

Hello all, how are you?

I was wondering, when will the new color science be available? I'm really curious to see how does it look compare to Rc3..

And i have a pretty strange question too, will the new color science be available for Mx sensor too? Just like Redcolor3 and Redlogfilm in RedcineX when it wasn't yet available on Red one Mx camera ?

I hope so, it would be a really great news for all Red owners..

Hey Mendes.

I'm digging your enthusiasm. Unfortunately the new color science will not (as far as I understand) apply to the older cameras. It's only applicable to the Dragon sensor, and is therefore named dragonColor.

There's no definite timeframe for the color science but Jarred recently commented that progress is being made and there's a whole 'other half' to the roll out of the new color science - because you weren't already totally pumped to see it.

well im guessing the other half is either red dragon gamma, or lytro like features which was mentioned back in the day as an interest...

There will definitely be a gamma curve that goes with dragonColor, but the other half is something new - perhaps some response curves that are accurate to film.

Lytro requires a fundamentally different hardware.
