Dragon and Scarlet MX color matching

Dear all,
I've just shot a multi cam project with a Dragon and a Scarlet MX. before every take I shot a few seconds of a 18% grey chart. I hoped it was enough to have cameras perfectly matched. Not at all!!!!….
Colors are pretty different. So I have two questions:

1) how can I match them now in RedCineX?

2) what's the best solution (chart + software) to easily match to different RED?

Question are you using the same color sciences for both? Should give you a pretty good starting point...
Possibly you can uppload a r3d frame from each and people here could possibly give you a good matched r3d redlog film starting point setting for each.

thanks for your reply!
So both camera was shooting at 4K HD 800ISO 23,98fps 1/50th shutter with a Canon 24-105mm f4. Black shading has been done before shooting.
Here are two snapshot (no grading, only imported in RCX) and Image Look panel. Warmer is Scarlet, cooler is Dragon.

I saw an interesting feature of Resolve using a color chart. It seems you could easily match color. I was wondering I could I do that with RCX.

Last but not least: color space and gamma were the same! RC3 RG4

Ok try this..

Use the RCXP white balance color picker and pick at the same spot in both pictures, basically some place where you can get middle gray, I would try under the table a few cm above the power outlet. If it works fly with it, if it does not fly... try other spots of the image.


I think if you get the white balance identical things will improve a lot.

But possibly the difference is uneven in low mids and highlights.

I use flame for grading mostly but possibly resolve or other tools has something similar... basically in flame I got a color match function that use a rectangular seclection for lows, mid´s highs and inbetweens, basically creating a match 2D lut. But I think if you match in the mids / under the table and then use curves to make the histograms look as much similar as possible you should with a little bit of tweaking be able to reach a level where you could not see the difference by eye.

Edit: also experementing with having DEB on/off for dragon. As that might affect your lowlights on the dragon.

If uou have a file server upload r3d snaps, I think a lot of people here would be very interested in seeing the difference of Dragon and scarlet especially as you shot with the same lens and all.
