Some friends of mine are in camera prep going through their Dragons and trying to jam TC.
What i know is camera is shooting 24fps. They have a lockit box (apparently set to 24fps too...)

Does that make sense? These guys are wracking their brains trying to get the green 'tc' icon to light up.

All sound recorders I've used can do 24.00fps timecode with no problem -- it's just a switch setting. But I would make absolutely sure that you really want 24.00fps before choosing that. 23.98 is (in general) a more popular option.

I have used Lockit boxes and Denecke SB-T boxes with Red cameras a hundred times and never had any problems. On rare occasions, we had to double-check the project and frame-rate settings and reboot the camera, and then suddenly it would "see" the TC signal and go green.

The switch settings on the Ambient boxes can be confusing and you do have to select them carefully. I believe the Denecke timecode slates will tell you when it's true 24.00fps timecode and you try to feed it 23.98 (or vice-versa) and will momentarily show you an error message; not sure what the Ambient slates do.

Yes,

I was momentarily confused earlier. The sound devices 788T can do 24fps. My timecode slate can do 24 too but its kind of a hidden menu option with the right combo of dip switches.

Because i am a sound recordist AND own a Dragon these guys called me to help.
I had neither kit in front of me at the time and was trying to work it out for them.

I get the feeling there was something going on with the lockit box not being setup properly.

I too have never had an issue getting tc to sync.

I am waiting for an update from the guys to see if they got it sorted but I appreciate the quick response.
