I am going for a light set from Dracast.
The question is if I use a bi color 1000 there are only 500 running at any time if I am on one end or the other. Do I need bi color or just get a true 1000 daylight and use a gel to get tungsten? I will have a mixed shooting environment. Some studio and some outdoors for fill. Any opinions are welcome.

How is this set. It is about right for my budget.

I personally prefer to have the punch from the daylight and gel for tungsten. I have an older model and my biggest issue is with the bulky power supply that comes with it. Perhaps the newer models have something better.

I own a Litepanels ASTRA, and since the output of the Bi-Color was basically just like the output of the daylight version I bought the Bi-color.

However, I would have bought the daylight version if it had much greater output. I really like my Litepanels ASTRA!

And, I love my Daylight LED Fresnel Mole-Richardson lights.... awesome!

I have a pair of smaller bi colors and a pari of daylight 1x1s. i kind regret buying bi colors due to lower light output. its not to bid of a deal to gel them, esp if you cut gels to size and keep them with the light. i would take the output of the daylight over BC any day.

if I have a 1000 led bicolor and am in full daylight for instance it only lights up 500 so I am at the same output as a 500 though. Right?

As long as that's how the bi-color fixture works, then yes, but I think some daylight panels fire the full 1000 (or however many they have)
when in daylight mode, but it depends on the manufacturer or fixture.

I have the bi-color and most the time it is enough light for what I am doing. But yes, it is less. I like being able to dial in the color temp. I want. Sometimes that 4500 calvin, something not so simple to do with jells.
