What you want to know how to be in here in these files RAW.
I will collect the DR of Monstro, Epic-w Gemini, BM, ALexa, Scarlet-w, Sony Venice make repetitive images in different environments and lights with these cameras (real life) always using the same lenses.
Give me some more time, I'll do it as soon as I have some break ...
If you have a request, write here.
This must be a constructive discussion between professionals of this beautiful work.

Enjoy yourselves!
Luigi

BULB light.
Based on the exposure tools of the cameras, as soon as I saw the clip I stopped and I marked the aperture of the diaphragm.
Then the second shot for everyone at T5.6

Gemini still surprising !! If you set Olpf Skin tone to be the same as ALexa in the highlights, the same opening AT T 7.1

Alexa CLipping T 7
Gemini Clipping T 7.6 Standard olpf
Dragon Clipping T 9 . Standard olpf
Bm CLipping T 13

BM can tell you how to get 1...1.5 useable stops more out of that Cdng RAW file. ($ 6.000 ready to shoot).
Phil Holland can tell you the same about the scarlet. ($ 19.000 ready to shoot).
And ARRI knows that they will get 14+ stops between 200 and 3200 ISO at the cost of lower resolution or high price with comparable resolution ($ 100.000 ready to shoot).

arriraw =/= R3D =/= BMD Cdng.

C300II would be nice

This is really great. It would be nice to know the footcandles it clips at, or the spot reading of the 1st unclipped chip.

I like where this test is going, I think when it comes to the real world stuff, a test with a model where you gradually overexpose and then also underexpose the skin would reveal a lot, it would also be a great opportunity to render the results both with legacy DragonColor2/RedLogFilm and the current IPP2 with the very smooth highlight rolloff setting to see the real difference the new color science makes.

Yes sure your speech is almost perfect;)
These are just a test of size according to my usability criterion outside of Resolve.
In real life it is very difficult to arrive in these dynamic zones in a controlled light situation.
What interests most of all, in addition to the dynamic range is to compare with the same lens a specific internal external scene, taken several times but with different cameras. This is what I will be doing soon. This will help to understand the true behavior of each sensor.

Great Stuff, really love to see Helium, Gemini and Monstro there! Thanks Luigi!

Yep Sergio ;) next week Monstro e Gemini.. i hope have a time ... and Next next Venice Helium. then all the requests;)

Anton i try next time with 1 chip unclipped RGB ;)

Ciao Luigi, tutto posto? :)
Helium - Gemini standard mode would be lovely too.
Mille grazie!

It's not about my speech it's about your test (making a test with good valid bounderies is not easy).
What lens is used at what settings, what are those light conditions?
Red and ARRI both do more post processing in camera, UMP does it in resolve(noise reduction, highlight recovery).

UMP is not a low light camera, for that you have to add a GH5s with a speedbooster to your gear (totals $ 9.000 ready to shoot, still freaking cheap).

Hello Luigi,
The problem I see isn't DR anymore. It's the lack of knowledge from colorist how to develop the R3D (used to work with Alexa).
They usually throw all that DR out of the window, even clipping where there is no reason.

When doing the DR chart. Don't you have to determine what noise is still acceptable and creates the picture? How did you apply your gamma curve?

Thanks for your tests.

Pat

Ps: I would be interested to see how the OLPF choice influence the noise and DR on the Gemini.

Hi Pat,
yes certainly colorists sometimes perhaps by nature of the project do not look much the DR. My test is not pure luminance, as I assume Phil's are rightly as manual. What I posted and what I call usable as far as possible. For your question I used ipp2, no contrast very soft slightly raising the gamma curve at the bottom.
I hope you understand my bad english eheh.

yep i try change olpf in gemini next week ;=
Good week PAt;)

There are two IPP2 output transforms that cover two OETFs: BT 1886 (for REC 709) and ST 2084 (for REC 2020). The latter will tell much more about DR than the former, I think. Please consider mastering your DR results in an HDR-friendly container, such as REC 2100. Thanks!

thank you Michael for your advice;)

Hello Luigi,

Could you also test if the rolling shutter is better due to less resolution -> faster read out time compared to Dragon/Helium?
