When outputting DPX files from Red Cine, is there a way to downres
from 4K 2:1 to 2K 2:1 like you can with Pro Res HQ outputs? My "Format"
field is grayed out (no access).

Or, do I need to scale the shots 50% before the output stage?

I know Red Alert gives one the option to Scale when setting up the
render output, so am I missing something in Red Cine?

Also, I've heard of people setting the project to whatever format they want to be outputting to, but if I do that the image gets cropped.

Thanks in advance.

Set the project to the format you want to output to. (2k 2:1 in this case)
Then go to the Shot tab -> Shot Framing and select ALL and then either "Fit Width" or "Fit Height" depending on your needs.

But I have found that output scaling gives better results. Since it can be done for QuickTime output, I don't see why it can't for DPX. Indeed it was possible in earlier versions of Redcine.

Thanks for the info on project settings and scaling.

However, it does seems better to do it on output (though I have no evidence to support this notion). Nick, you've compared the two methods and had better results with scaling on output?

Can anyone confirm whether it is even possible with DPX files with
version 3.12 of Red Cine?
