DP-Director Relationship

As long as the checks don't bounce, there are no bad jobs. '-)

Meh...and I thought we were talking about respecting/disrespecting expert's opinion on set.
I mean, money can't by one's respect. Or satisfaction. Or it can? Then what are we talking about - prostitution?

I was just being flip with my comment. '-)

But in answer to your comment, I think it comes down to what is important to the individual.

Is the job just work?... or is it an outlet of expression?

Neither approach is wrong.

Must have lost my sarcasm detector then.

FTR:

Not only actors got lines, directors got lines too. It's: "Lights!", "Camera!" & "Aaaaand action!". And "Cut!". "Faster, and more intense!", occasionally.
That's unless You're J. C., or R. S., the special kind of PITA, who's "all in one - one in all" knowitall SOBMF.

I agreed with everyone here.

But, this time, I will hand up to director/producer friend.

It's documentary. I am so sorry... to give you a hard time, but I will be on the producer/Director's side. It's because, documentary isn't only about making it look good, but also visible and information of the background. For example, Herzog's documentary cinematography wasn't always awesome, he doesn't give a fuck on that, and he still is the winner. May be the producer/director dude want to show more stuff around the environment.

I am not saying that you did bad. Your job is correct. You pointed out something wrong, and the director didn't like it to change. That's fine. But you did your job. Nobody will blame it to you.

Again, the final decision is always made by the director, and that's they why are called director.
Don't feel bad man... If you don't like your director, just don't work with him. It's his loss.

I really understand that you have such a hard time being stressed by the producers. I do get stressed, and everyone in this forum are...
It's simple, just give them an option, if they don't like it "Fuck it"

It's not your fault, if the film comes out shit. It's director's fault.

Just simple as that.
