While on the subject-If you need batteries then DON'T buy from Global Media Pro. First of all they have no phone number-Second they rarely answer an email after they have your money-Third -They gave me a total of my order and how much to transfer/wire to their bank and after transferring the EXACT amount they requested, they tell me I am short $17 on a $1400 order. Then they say they will discount the $17 but it might delay the order- Even though it says on their website 2-3 days for orders to the United States , It is going on 3 weeks and I haven't received my order of batteries yet- Meanwhile I had to rent batteries and a quad charger for a shoot I had with my RED Scarlet and spent $160 for rental. As of now my last email 3 days ago hasn't been answered on an arrival date for my order- Don't be dumb like me-Keep your orders in the US if you live here and make sure the company has a phone number also-They are the worst company I have EVER dealt with. Nick Roman-CEO -Roman Media Productions.

The $17 sounds like the fee their (recipient Bank) has taken from your $1400 transfer. There's normally an option when doing Wire/Bank transfers that means you pay these charges and that means they get the exact amount of money... downside is, you have to suck up the extra fee (as well as your own Bank fee for sending the money).

Not purchased GMP's - I opted for Bricks (as I'd heard lots of horror stories) and power is one of the gotchyas... I'd rather stick on brand and pay a little more.

Sounds like you've had a bit of a nightmare.

Beillen sells the GMP batteries. I have not had any problems at all with them. As a matter of fact, my crew prefers the beillen GMP's over AB dionics

I agree that GMP ordering is a bit of a hassle, I'm in the same situation a you that I have to rent batteries because my order didn't come through because the bank decided to change the order number a bit by adding 'purchase' to it. But when I emailed GMP they replied quickly and I got a shipping date and I expect the batteries to be here next week.

As for quality, my GMP batteries so far hold up better then the RED bricks even though the housing is less strong. Three out of four of my RED bricks are now dead while all the GMP batteries are still going. Could just be me of course.

Thanks for the warning Nick,
but because I didn't have the same experience as you with the company quoted.
I'll continu buying their product if I need to.
Like Sander 5 years later half of my Red batteries are dead while the GMP still rockin.
Best
B.

Sadly I have heard similar complaints from others. I was more tolerant of this last year when they were new but at this point they should have resolved these types of problems by now

I find that bank transfers are almost always a little bit short. If you tell your bank you want a certain amount sent, the other bank will charge a fee or the exchange rate is a little poorer than you think or whatever. Getting batteries sent from overseas is also getting tougher because of problems with cheap Chinese batteries that sometimes light themselves on fire. I get that they're not dealing with you very well, too, but I always have low expectations on delivery when ordering anything from the other side of the world.

Hey Nick, I understand your frustration but if you keep double-posting this thread the moderators might shut it down. better to just keep it at one thread

Agree fully with Jason.

This is counterproductive - it gives this user forum a black eye to the rest of the production community. Provides others with ammo to get more FUD out there.

Especially when you consider that not two, but three threads have been started in the past day by the OP - all on the same subject.

Might have been better if he just updated the fourth one he started back on July 5th....

I agree. I was on the fence about ordering from GMP. When I saw your first thread about his I was alarmed. After seeing 3 other threads and also your comment in someone elses thread now I am thinking this is just a one off or mis-communication issue and it sounds like you have an axe to grind.

I've ordered batteries 3 times from GMP. Never had a single issue ever with anything. Support has always been quick to reply and my orders arrived quickly.

Myself and several friends all ordered from them and had no probs at all.... You must of been the 1 in hundred unlucky one.. Hope it sorts itself out for you..

My experiences with GMP are mixed but I have all the batteries I ordered from them. And I have quite a few.
First order my bank converted to NZD here before they received the money. This rate was worse than their rate, but they still honored it.
good on them. Took a little long but received the order.
2nd order took quite some time, but it was a rather large order, and I have a feeling they didn't have the batteries in stock and had to wait for the factory to build them.
was unhappy with the lead time, since it was not disclosed on their website, but I got them all.
bottom line is that many companies sell the same exact battery. GMP, Beilen, B4B and others. They are the exact same batteries with just a sticker with the company name on. And they are great. They work really well, are reliable, and in my case since I bought the ones with the LCD screen on, the info you get is way better than AB batteries.
GMP is by far the cheapest source, but you have to deal with bank transfers and longer wait if you want to save some $$.

Nick sorry about your experience with GMP but for me, GMP ROCKS !! I just received second set of orders from them and all arrived on time with absolutely NO hassles. Made my order online them did the transfer on line as well. Within two hours I had received confirmation that they received my bank transfer which was amazing since it normally takes a day or two or even more sometimes with other vendors. And last week, 5 days after I made my order and way ahead of schedule, batteries and chargers were in my office in Lagos, Nigeria. Completely hassle free.

I have mixed thoughts about GMP - I had excellent customer service, but shocking delivery time ( 1.5 months!)
They work well, and for the price I don't think they can be beaten.. But I'd advise not ordering if you're under the gun to shoot something quickly - you may not see your purchase for quite some time.

It took me a little while to get my batteries in from them, but I love my GMP batteries, they perform as expected, charge as expected, and of course, are pretty darn cheap. I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them.

Its been 3 months. 4 batteries 80 wh batteries trapped at jfk customs. Margeret from globalmedia responds to emails but is not helpful. Tnt shipping company says its out of their hands. Anyone else having similar experiences?
