  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Does SSD Module disable the use of Red-Drives?

During a prep last week I had two MX bodies one with the SSD module and one the CF module. The producer thought to record to Red-Drives to for uniformity and to make things easier downloading. Very interesting to see that it was impossible to get any Red Drive to be recognized by the body with the SSD module - of course with basic troubleshooting - using multiple drive cables and different drives - and then verifying that all of those combinations worked just fine on the MX body with the CF card module. Both cameras on current release build 31.

So I may have missed something on RedUser, but to me it seems that if you upgrade to the SSD module, you are effectively killing the ability to use the Red Drives... which makes sense I guess, can't complain about the path of progress. And I suppose if it was a real deal breaker I could have just swapped back to the old CF module that is sitting on the shelf. Anybody know if this is a fact or just an issue I was having with a specific camera.... RED any clarification?

Thought it would be a good thing to bring up as I'm sure others will come across the same issue.

Probably too obvious, but there wasn't an SSD card in the SSD module at the same time? That might cause a conflict.

Thanks for the replies. I learned after the job that particular camera had a problem reading the drives beforehand, and it was swapped to the SSD module to counteract that very problem.

So there you go- camera specific glitch.
