Does rearranging of folders mess up Log&Transfer?

Hi all.

I have successfully downloaded and installed all the necessary software to run Red on a Mac with FCP 6.0.4.

On the set at the day of shooting I tested a few clips by using Log & Transfer. Worked swell.

However, upon returning home to my studio, Final Cut seems to be messing up in all sorts of weird ways.

I have tried to import two different folders: 1) A "test" folder, which has not been touched since it was copied to my external HD. 2) A "footage" folder, where the sub-folders have been renamed and rearranged (I have NOT removed the .R3D and the proxies away from eachother and I have not moved them to other folders - simply renamed the folder to fit the content (i.e.: "close-ups")).

Here's the deal: Log & Transfer imports my "test" folder just fine. It looks like this:

View attachment 7001

The files import correctly when dragged to the que.

My "footage" folder looks like this:
View attachment 7002

When dragged to the que Final Cut starts processing the file, but after a while a red exclamation mark sign appears, which states "Error: No Data" and the que is "Idle".

Is this because I have done some simple rearrangements of the folders, or do I have another problem, which I cannot see myself?

As already told all software and hardware it totally A-OK (we have edited Red before on this machine. However, at that time we worked by importing files and the just editing from proxies.....given that experience we really want to use Log & Transfer this time ;-) )

Any advice(s)?

If the L&T loads the clips into it's browser properly then the folder set-up is correct. If the problem is on ingest there may be something else happening. Do the files play properly with quicktime (playing from the proxies)?

RE: Does rearranging of folders mess up Log&Transfer?

I FOUND A SOLLUTION! :clown2:

Come to think of it, it seemed very strange that FCP could handle the "test" folder perfectly and not the rearranged "footage" folder. Hence, I moved all the material to the "test" folders - and thereby got a quite a few subfolders deleted. And then: Taaadddaaa - Everything worked just fine!

Therefore, I believe that a conclusion to my problem is that rearranging of folders (even if you're ultra carefull and keep the main structure) is quite dangerous fo ryour project. There might be other explanation, but for now this worked as a solution to my problem. And as they say: if it's not broken, then why fix it?

However, I still like to hear from anybody who has a more rational and technical explanation to my problem and its solution.

All best,

PS: Yes, the files play just fine using Quicktime with the RedCodec 3.0 installed.
