  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

does Euphonix MC Color works with Redcine X?

this information may help...

Resolve 7.1 - the current version- does not supprt MC Color, although the forthcoming version 8 will. Redcine X works with MC Color, but the control scaling is very extreme and not very usable. That has been noted here several times and my guess it that it will eventually be addressed. Now, having said those two things, I personally prefer MC Color for a number of reasons. It is much more compact than the Wave and matches up well with a keyboard placed in front of it, the rings and trackballs have, for me, a much better feel than the Wave's separate controls, it is widely supported, has a nice, simple customization application, and it connects via Ethernet, which allows it to be shared among multiple systems without having to re-cable. The feel of the controls is quite nice on an application that supports it (I've been using it with Assimilate Scratch), and I expect that will be the same with Resolve 8.

It does work, but it is very 'spastic' in terms of granularity. The controls would hugely benefit from a reduction in sensitivity. Fingers crossed... RED has many thing to do these days, but this would be a good one! I understand it works well with Resolve 8- so that may be reason enough for purchase.

I thought I read that the MC Color had improved performance in RedCine X with the latest Avid/Eucon drivers. (2.6?) Has anyone tested that combination?

I don't own one, its on my to do list so I'm trying to follow the news and learn the details.

It's extremely buggy for me. I have been using it everyday for 3 weeks now. I have to restart redline-x so often to keep it working. Some times when I start redline-x and use the panel I get an error and have to restart redline-x. Other times it will just quit working and I'll have to restart my machine. The sensitivity of the track wheels is way to high and there is no way to adjust.

In my opinion yes it "works" but it depends on your definition. I am very dissatisfied with it at this point, sometimes I just stick to the old mouse because it stopped working or is to sensitive.

Once Avid and red work the bugs out together I have no doubt that it will be great, but at this point it is barely usable...

same exact thing here as curtis. sometimes the wheels are crazy sensitive, sometimes are ok. constant restarts to get it going. i do not like tangent wave. i love mc color with davinci and with redcinex when it works... cant wait for it to get stable

There should be no remaining issues with MC Color and RCX Pro.

RCX Pro Build 3 included many fixes for the sensitivity issues users were having with the MC Color.

A few things to check:
1. Make sure you are running RCX Pro build 3 or later.
2. Make sure your MC Color drivers are up to date.
3. You have External Input Surfaces enabled in the Devices section of the preferences in RCX Pro.

Matt, I tested it with the MC Color and it seemed to hold up well, but I was told not to use RCX Pro on set, the only red approved/recommended release build is RCX 501.

During my tests RCX Pro was still fairly buggy when creating looks and applying them to other clips.

I would really like to see the adjustable sensitivity controls made available in RCX like I have heard they have in other programs like Color.

I just tried it in RCX Pro and have the same issues as RCX. Started up started using the panel and RCX Pro, the track wheels were super sensitive, then I used the trackballs, a window popped up saying that the Euphonix panel was sending invalid commands and I had to restart RCX Pro.

So at this point I am seeing the same issues across both apps. All though the sensitivity of the track wheel is much better in RCX Pro

If you get the message about invalid commands, it's an issue with the EUcon software, quit it, and re open it. The controls should not be too sensitive, at least in RCX Pro version 3. I have not tried version 4.

I use my MC Color with RCX every day and only problem with non pro versions is the super sensitive wheels, everything else is fine. IT is much better in the pro v.3.

Tim,

I am using the MC color daily on a show right now with RCX and have the same issues everyday. Are you running the latest drivers and firmware from Avid?

still buggy with RCX Pro. It takes a restart of RCX to get it to work, which is not practical especially when you have transcodes queued up in a working set environment. when it works its great!!! Pls pls pls adress the software bugs when u can.
