  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Does anyone have Scarlet 2k footage solutions?

I'm wondering if the Tokina I used was a dud too. It was not a sharp glass, especially wide open or anywhere near 11mm. But everyone else seems to love it. I'll have to try a different one to see how it holds up.

I've got an Epic on the way, and was thinking of the Scarlet for smaller projects. But The FS700 does sound like a great camera. I've got a buddy who swears by it and I'll be using it later this month, so I'll get a good idea of it's capabilities soon.

I didn't know the FS700 was on general release yet. Maybe the USA has it before Europe?

Epic will give more flexibility in post (as you're working RAW and have much higher framerates in other resolutions, unlike the Scarlet) - but (from what's around on the web) the FS700 with it's slow motion burst will give birth to a lot of sloooooowww motion stuff on Youtube & Vimeo - watch for the cat and water splash tests :)

Can someone post some good 2k r3ds so I can compare them to what I've been getting. Stills are fine. I'd love to compare unsharpened r3ds and see how much sharpening is generally required vs what I've been having to do.

Thanks!

I use to get railed a lot by 5d still people about cropping on my 7d but I'm not from that school, all I wanted was video. So the7D was great because I wanted 60 fps but it was only at 720.

I'm having a blast with my Scarlet 60fps @2k on a 18mm Tokina. It even plays back @ 60fps directly on the touchscreen without conforming on a computer. Sick! Having a great time.

So far I have only done daylight but I plan to get a canon 18mm soon. It will be my first lens over $1k.

I want to get a denoise and slowmo S/W but in general my priority is product over tools or technique . I'm happy with the image.

It's not in production yet. (Not till around the first of July) but my friend tests for Sony and got an early one. It's not the full production model but I'm excited to see how it works.
