Okay, cheating slightly because only a few scenes were shot on Red, and shameless self promotion (that's okay if it's microbudget, right?), but.....

My first doc feature was picked up by Gravitas Ventures and is being released on Jan 30th in North America.

It's now available for pre-order on iTunes by going to adelemovie.com/iTunes

The film is all about a woman - Marty - with an untreatable heart condition that made her faint every day (sometimes up to 20 times a day) completely without warning. In 2007 she was paired with one of the world's first cardiac alert service dogs - Adele - and within weeks stopped fainting entirely. The film picks up 9 years later as Marty must face up to the fact that Adele is too old to continue working and must retire.

You can check out the trailer here: vimeo.com/longhaulfilms/adele

Thanks for letting me shamelessly self-promote.

What a compelling pitch for a story!

Interesting. Wonder what condition that is...and if its mostly in her mind. I only say that because only weeks after she just stopped fainting out of the blue. Maybe she'll find out she doesn't need a dog after.

Anyway good looking story for real.

She started fainting when she was a baby. Definitely not in the mind. She stopped fainting because the dog, as a cardiac alert dog, is able to sense when she's at risk of fainting and alert her so that she stops walking, sits down or lays down depending on how severe it is. The dog gives her an early warning system so she can prevent the faint from happening.

But anyway, hope some of you check it out. Only $12.99 on the presale :)

Congrats on this! Selling a doco these days is a tough deal, but this does sound a very compelling and interesting story.

oh wow. Very cool.

Ah, selling it's the easy part. Getting people to watch it is the hard part!! Especially when there's SO MUCH content people are used to getting as part of their subscriptions.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! And if the $12.99 presale seems steep, it will be a much cheaper rental when it goes live on 1/30 on iTunes, Amazon, Fios, DirecTV, etc.

UPDATE:

The movie is now available to rent or buy wherever you get your video-on-demand.

Most places it's $4.99 for the HD rental. Google has it at $3.99 for some reason.
