Lets keep the prices where it is if not higher. Remember buy what you can afford in a camera, other wise RENT IT. Sure I want cooke s5's but, I'm not emailing them that Rokinon just came out with cinema primes for next to nothing... There's no reason why they should drop prices with bmcc. Frankly, I don't want my investment, involed with such a low end camera market. Where's the return? I doubt it's gonna affect RED's market at all, as RED is a high end PROFESIONAL camera. The BMCC on the other hand.... Not so much... Have you ever held the 2.5k version? Or used it on set? Best way to discribe my experince is, it's shit. But that's just me, I'm used to using cameras like the EPIC/SCARLET, REDone and Alexa. It's a nice camera for students or entry market people though. Comes with resolve and ahh, resolve...
But anyways, it's not like this just came out of no where and RED has to rethink its strategy. It was bound to happen that a company would deliver a 4k camera for 4k. RED knew this would happen, which is one major reason they axed the 3k for 3k bs. Because RED is and wants to stay in the PROFESIONAL market. Which is good for everyone, even if you can't afford it. 4k is here for everyone now, and RED already moved on to 5k and soon 6k.
