If I have a R3D file clip that has a long lead in, and I trim that off in RedCineX, then "export" it to a different location, is there any quality lost from the original R3D file? I would assume not, but I just want to make sure and double check that doing this will not jeopardize the end result in any way in post production.

I ask this, because some of the shots we've been doing lately requires that we leave our Red-One shooting for maybe 10 minutes +/- before the event happens. If the actual event lasts 1 minute, then we have 9 minutes of garbage to get rid of. And, no, we can't use pre-record for this. It's just the nature of this particular thing we're doing. Nine minutes of crap is just too much to have to store.

Any feedback or help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Trimmed R3D files hold identical image data to the original and no quality is lost.
