  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DIT Station - On sale at Maxx Digital

Sorry for posting it here, but for DIT it is a good idea to add at least SxS reader to be most versatile and works with Alexa too, at least for download station.

This model of the DIT Station has been designed specifically for RED workflow although you can customise your Station however you wish. The dual laptop setup allows you simultaneous data management and playback while you are working with large size RED files on a laptop platform.

2 Questions:
Have you actually made any of these? If so could we see some pics and not renders?
What exactly does it come with, the site is very very vague, does it come with the RedRocket, HDD's etc etc the site needs better descriptions.

We are now indeed selling and have an inventory in stock with Maxx Digital. We will be posting actual pictures very soon. The only items not included are the laptops and the actual RED Rocket card itself but the Mobile Rocket and everything else is included.

Will you guys be at NAB?

We will indeed be at NAB and looking forward to it. We will be next to our partners, Maxx Digital, and close to the RED stand. Look out for us, we have a few sneaky cards up our sleeves.

This looks very cool. I would also be interested in seeing photos or a video.

From experience being able to just roll a station in, open it up and work is awesome.

It looks kinda like the one we built as a lightweight DIT station.

Great work John. We did a very similar custom job a while back for a client in the UK, still based on the dual laptop setup so you can do simultaneous playback. Nice job.

Hi guys, check out these photos of the DIT Station in action.

Good job - I want one.

But what totally sold me was the cup holder - genius!

We are very much so shipping and we have a little photo shoot tomorrow with the stations so I'll post them as soon as their ready. Should have a little video content coming your way as well. Watch this post!
Your shipping with the Mobile Rocket intact? Odd, I ordered a Mobile months ago and Im still waiting.

We purchased a small inventory of Mobile Rocket units a while ago solely for distribution with the DIT Station. We are also very excited for when the new stock comes in.

Not to rain on this parade, but should this really be considered and labeled as a DIT station? Forgive my ignorance, I just now saw this, but this looks like a redcine-x digital-loader's setup.

Are you utilizing 2 rockets? Or are you using one laptop for rocket playback/transcode and the 2nd laptop for storage? What kind of I/O expansion are you offering from a 1x express34 slot? All the storage is NAS?

Do you have any layout diagrams of the setup?

I guess I'm not sure what the advantage is over a 12core Macpro for half the cost and it includes the computer and could be utilized for alexa, codex, davinci, etc.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

The DIT Station is a dual laptop, data management and playback workstation. It's designed for people working a laptop system and need all in one portability whilst on-set.

The entire system is UPS backed up as well as accurately cooled so the computers, drives and RED Rocket card run as cool as possible. All I/O from the Mobile Rocket is repositioned to the rear of the case for total convenience. The advantage of the internal network, apart from allowing simultaneous DM and playback from a laptop setup, also allows direct interface with the expandable onboard NAS storage through the rear positioned ports allowing you to easily connect to a Macpro system with your off-set DIT.

This is our base model that we have designed in a modular way so it can be expanded as data speeds go up and formats develop. It's a speedy, sleek way of working that allows you to get on and off set in record time, retain full portability, and work comfortably.

I wouldn't say it's about going head to head with Macpro system. It's just a different way of working.

Out of interest, I know the Mobile Rocket is marketed as a playback system primarily, but any idea of transcode speeds versus using the rocket in a tower?

Have to say that whereas a tower may be cheaper, I know which one i would rather have to take into the middle of the desert!

Would also like to know how easily one could go about getting this additionalan SxS reader and SSD reader. Just to cover EPIC and those pesky Alexa Jobs. ;)

Hey Guys, Check out Martin from DIT Station on the most recent Tech Media Planet Podcast talking with the awesome Suny Behar and Steve Beres. In which Martin discusses about customizing the DIT Station, upgrading the system and more. Hope you enjoy and we look forward to seeing you at NAB.
