Need inexpensive but good monitor, for doing an acceptable grade on set.

Is there a LCD or LED consumer screen with DVI that would work? I have a RED ROCKET, but I'd rather not spend a boatload on a production SDI monitor.. I don't plan on doing final color corrections in the field.. Just enough soothe director/DP can have a really good idea of the look they are getting..

I personally like it better than the contemporary cinema displays - its quite color accurate out of the box with good black level... I'd take it over a cinema display unless someone is offering me the 30"

I've been looking for a new monitor too, and have been torn on wether to go for a 10-bit panel. I'd not heard of this one but remember the 2475 and the issues it had with green/pink shift. How's this one in that regard, if I decide to go the 8-bit route?

wow, a look at the specs - only displays 72% of NTSC gamut... Don't know how much others in this price range display - maybe this one's the cream of the crop there - but makes me wonder if it's just better to go 10-bit.

Though, not to thread-jack, but I want to buy one that I COULD use for final grading, not just on-set color work.

Flanders. More than $600, but a lot less than the Eizo and pretty damn good. The 24" is awesome, but I use the 17" for most onset stuff.

I've actually been looking at a less expensive model from EIZO, in the "Flexscan" series:

FlexScan SX2462W

It's a 10-bit panel but lacks SDI input, but it's also about $1200 for the 24." The 27" sounds cool, but I haven't priced it.

Dusty I'll be picking up a new FSI monitor in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future I'm sure, as my reference monitor. I'm looking for a color-accurate-but-affordable 10-bit panel if I can find one in the mean time.

Anyone else have an acceptable sub-1000$ monitor that competes with ZR24w?

I find it better than Panasonic 2550 personally.

Flanders Scientific - awesome, very awesome . Still 10x the price. The new Sony OLED's seem pretty sexy.

My tangent aside, I'd like to know of another monitor that displays more of the NTSC color space than the ZR24w.
