This is a bit off topic but certainly a DIT question about the business.

I have backups with redundancy in place with a 2 TB RAID 1 and 6 TB RAID 5 for camera files along with the client drives. My strategy is for the client to take their drives off site every night that way we have data in two locations.

I think this is a good back up strategy for data but do you also need to have business insurance in case something catastrophic happens on set and you loose everything? If you do what do you recommend for coverage and what insurance companies do you use.

Thanks for the advice.

Hey Jeremy,

The insurance company that I've been speaking with is:
Francis L. Dean & Associates
http://www.fdean.com/

I think I read of RedUser that Kat Wong works for them (but I'm not sure).
I've been speaking with Breda Dean from the FL office. She's been super helpful in answering all of my questions.

Hope that helps!

Remember the days when we shot film... One copy, traveling through how many gates, rollers, couriers, people hands.... etc etc etc... and not finding out the next day if the film was good or not...

We do millions per year, we have now officially dropped all neg & data insurance which we were paying up 30k per year, x 15 years = $450,000 and not one single claim. !
All I can say, is WOW! I wish i could get that money back from those arse sitting blood suckers...

copy to 3 seperate drives on set, backup and check after ever major shot or scene... , give the drives to 3 separate reliable people on the day to take in different cars.
Have aspare body on set at all times.

You are now covered....

Save your money and buy a Condo in Tahiti...
