  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

District 9 = $37 + million weekend BO

Amazing!!!

Congratulations!!!

More than expected!!!

RED1 straights back strongly again this Summer against some of "funny" multi-camera evaluations tests on the road!!!

It's a proud to be a RED User!!!

Now it's officially confirmed:

Yahoo Box Office Chart>>>

My skin feels today pretty conformable in all that RED1's "PAID TAN" sort of acquisition and post production RAW "treatment" or "tanning"... :emote_happyhappy:  :smilielol5:

I would love to know the P&A budget for the domestic release - they spent some real $$ on the all that fun signage.

I suspect the P&A was equal to, or greater than the production budget.

Could be and District 9 is still better SF movie than Cloverfield or Transformers franchise just because it's closer to reality.

A lot of people think that they are living in sort of SF world or global SF society anyway, so that's perfectly fit to that common taste and feeling of their (own) real lifes...

Saw it last night, have been waiting since they started shooting last year. A friend of mine is one of the MNU mercenaries. Lots of local only lines, cleverly hidden, one bullet one prawn comes to mind, (reference to One Boer one Bullet, a banned hate speech phrase referring to the killing of white Afrikaner farmers by black militants). So much more for the local audience we can only say thank you. I doubt the Americans catch the significance of half of the things in the movie there are so many subtleties in the film that speaks directly to the South African audience. Those that are afraid its a political statement, you are way off. Pure adrenaline fun with tons of action that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Your mind will still be reeling hours later digesting all that happened.

just watched D9 here in Singapore. There was no P&A here at all (none that i saw), which is surprising cos Singapore per capita has a very big cinema going audience.

the projector was projecting over the broders of the screen which caused some feathering on the top and bottom of the frame. (fyi it was shown at the same cinema Ted came to give a talk at mid 2008)
but sound was excellent, almost too real at some points. i had to look over my shoulder to see if someone was yelling in the back of the cinema.

i thought the film was alright. hope the dvd has alot of extras on it. is there anywhere where we can find out the technical specs of the shoots/red usage?

edit
found this probably posted somewhere else

I went to see it last week, partly because it was shot with RED, but also because the first trailers were really great.
This is one of my two favorite movies this year (the other one being Moon, which is very different).

I can't really say much about the image quality, the story was very good and the movie flowed so well I just didn't pay attention to it.

a 30M$ production budget for a movie that's full of VFX work and is much better than any of the big budget VFX sci fi films of the last few years

I'm also kinda surprised RED didn't promote this film as "shot on RED" like they have for other films like Eli, Knowing, Che, etc. Would that because this is a Sony picture? Or is it because there are so many RED projects now that they don't really have to promote it anymore?

EDIT: I stand corrected. I see that the poster for D9 is featured on their "shot on red" page.

I just saw the movie last night- I believe this is story telling at it's best. One the two best movies for this year for me. The other Inglorious Bastards.

I'll try to check out moon before it leaves theaters
