Hi guys,
since I know that some of you are using Lightspace to calibrate their screens I wanna introduce here a couple of workflow tools that greatly enhance Lightspace and improve your profiling and calibration results...
There are lots of tools and functionality on http://DisplayCalibrationTools.com - some of them are dedicated Lightspace tools - I'll mention just 3 here that are very useful for current LS users:
1) Lightspace Profile Reporter
A dedicated LS tool. You get a full dE report on any LS profile - may it be a QP, full DC or a custom profile. Every profile point is validated with up to 4 dE formulas. It's a very long report, that pretty much shows everything except CIE charts which u have in LS. There's no need to use other solutions anymore for reporting. You can keep working in LS and enjoy the superior probe handling and probe accuracy of LS. The site has examples.
2) Custom Color Space Creator
A dedicated LS tool. LS enabled parametric gamma support in Jan 2014 which u can use via a custom color space, which means u can create any Gamma shape or curve in a custom color space to accommodate the Gamma response of your display with up to 101 Gamma adjustment points. This is very, very useful.... I'll post a detailed calibration example next of a 65VT60 which I know some of u guys use as well for client Rec709 evaluation....
3) Custom Color Patch Sequences
As u know LS internally uses grid sequences, e.g. 17^3, 21^3 etc... These are traditional patch sequences, with great results but they can be improved so that for the same amount of profile points you get a more thorough profile ("scan") of the gamut that then provides more conclusive data to the color engine which will improve your calibration LUT. The site has a few dedicated color patch sequence tools, one being a generator where you can either create grid sequence based sets (and tweak / modify them as you want) another is a section where u can freely create your own set via H|S|B controls. My next post contains an example of how to create such sets and how good they are...
I'm affiliated with the project, let me know if you have any questions.
- Mike
P.S.: I will also post a calibration workflow of an Eizo later....
