We have been struggling to display 4k footage from RED One on multiple monitors without spending ton of monies. The goal is to display footage in three vertical LCDs, each 1080p. Most video wall systems can work only with 1080p signal. I don't think RED Ray will be answer for this.

What is your solution?
Thanks

May take a little time and experimenting, but you could crop the 4k footage into 3 separate segmented files: left third, center third, right third. Each 3rd would be a 1080w x 1920h segment for a full image size of 3240 x 1080. Play back from 3 genlocked time code synchronized digital media players, one for each display. Might could do it from a single file off a computer with a 3 head video card in extended desktop mode too. Any media players supporting 4k video clips out there? Haven't checked any new ones lately.
I don't know of a media wall processor that accepts higher than 2560 x1600 as a single input window and it is not cheap.

Good advices. Right now we have been doing the three media player solution. It works, but it is time consuming and MPEG2/4 quality is not the best.

I haven't heard of any affordable 4k media players. Maybe at NAB?

I would probably use 4 screens... or better, 4 projectors. or better still - 1 projector...

File types and compression are up to you... Prores, MPEG, H264. Others would work as well, somebody might be able to recommend a better type for realtime 4k playback off a graphics card. If you have some rocket cards, and it's just the r3d's, you could use those...

Four 1080 monitors with thin bezels, Red Rocket with breakout box gives you 4 HDMI outs for each quadrant, hit play in RCX.

Note, you will want the monitors in horizontal (landscape) mode, and your total display area will be 2,160(V) by 3,840(H) so depending on the format of the original footage and settings in RedCineX you may be cropping or scaling.
