  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

digitizing directly in to avid from camera

look at my previous post -
since there is no audio embeded in hd-sdi you can do that much easier:

ask your sound crew to plug theirs TC out (LTC of course) to one of the RED's audio channels. after that - do as suggested by MichaelP from AVID.

yeah well .... 720 out is 59.94 with 3:2 pulldown and your TC is 23.98

well, ok

different perspectives

i.e. 720p 25 frames:)

playback only 1080p 25 frames

is this more correct?

Timecode Out

Timecode Out

There is no embedded audio on Red's HD-SDI feed, at least not at the moment, to my knowledge.

There is no timecode out yet on the RED-ONE, period. At least thats true on Build 16 and all previous builds.

When it becomes available it will be available on both the 5 pin LEMO connector and also on the HD-SDI outputs.

you PAL guys need to come over to the 23.976 side! Or ... should we all just meet in the "middle" - 24p for global standard! (I am happy if we can just kill 29.97 for good)

seriously, I was pointing out the 720 because I want to injest WHILE SHOOTING so proxy media can be used for playback and meta-tagging & annotations -

yes, if we can get embedded TC (and audio please) and a "PLAY ALL" function in Build 17 - 1080p (24/25) should be no trouble at all -

still ... I want to do it from the 720 - while shooting - we'll get there ....

You could, tedious, prone to human data entry errors, and timecode on slate in all my years of editing come close, but it not exact to the timecode once I sync the two elements together...

Michael

yes i agree. human error should be left out of the meta tagging and data as much as possible.
Mark's idea of digitizing while shooting is a great idea and one i've been thinking about as well. why not save yourself the time and end of day have your bins ready to go and also have clips ready for review immediately from the NLE?

great ideas lets make em happen!
