  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi
I have done several jobs from Red using Film Master, some were R3D conformed as redlog and some were dpx flles created using redcine set to redgamma/rec709.

As a colorist I prefer working directly from the r3d files, but there were legitimate reasons for the other workflows. I always push for access to the r3d files even if I have been provided with existing conversions. I don't always get it, and on occasion we have been left wondering if perhaps it was better from the camera than the linear dpx

As you found there are lots of papers on red post production workflows for lots of software packages, but for an overview try my paper http://www.finalcolor.com/Adopting.htm
and there are other papers on DI at
http://www.finalcolor.com/color.htm

Let me know if you have specific questions regarding tools or workflow
Best
