Diffusion frames.

I'm sure many of us has come across many different types of diffusion frames. I'm looking to buy some 4x4s and I need you guys to help me recommend or search for this particular type of frame.

It's aluminium and it's thin. It's fixed, not collapsible. Not looking for those pvc pipe types or the thicker-framed aluminium types.

I've come across this while working on a set once but they were smaller than 4x4s. I did ask where they got those but they said it was DIY and upon close inspection, sure enough they were. But those worked great. Lighter and easier to set up. Good for on the road use.

So I'm wondering if these actually exist for sale.

No, I think he's looking for the fixed 4x4 frame made of aluminium square stock with a 750 spigot and a handle...

Any aluminium welding shop should be able to make these for you cheap - it's just 4 4' pieces of square stock cut at 45°, and a couple pieces of round all welded together.

Edit: I would think it would be a lot less to have it made for you than the $350 B&H wants for that collapsible frame...

You might also be able to ask a rental shop where they buy their frames.

Hmm...actually what I meant by thin frames is that the frames are flat. They are not square or cylindrical.

these are one of the most common pieces of equipment in the grip world. you can get them from any grip manufacturer.

american grip

modern studio equipment

i tig weld my own but if i were to buy today i think id try the modern version. they are the only ones to bend the 1"x1/4" stock around the corners. this gives a rounded edge which is kind of cool. they are usually in the $100 range and typically you want enough for a few flavors of diffusion
