Just wondering if it's worth shooting in 4.5K Widescreen for the extra resolution rather than shooting in 4K HD and having the ability to crop.

You'd wanna do full 4.5K rather than 4.5K WS because you'll get the entire 2160px height instead of 1944px.

Really up to you to test and see which you think might be the best choice for the production.

I personally love the ability to lock my frame and not give the editors any room to play with my compositions. I also would like having those extra 500 pixels or so to play with, which helps in minimizing the appearance of noise.

That said, the ability to crop/reframe is valuable in a fast-paced production where you can't nail it every time.

Depends on compression.

Lower Compression = Faster Transcodes + (a component of) Less Noise + More Fine Detail
