Ok help needed! I am doing primary adjustments in RedCineX and saving RMD files before importing the red files into Final Cut Pro X. When in FCPX the colour and overall appearance

is completely different. It is clearly using the RMD files as you can adjust in RedCineX then flick back to FCPX and the change will automatically appear. Only thing is I don't understand why there is such a massive difference. I saved a frame from within RedCineX and FCPX so you can see the difference...... Any ideas?

Strangely these uploaded pics look very close but the originals look way different.... confused...

None of the post-processing effects from RCX are acknowledged by FCPX.

Moreover, I'm pretty sure that FCPX uses the display/OSX gamma/colourspace, whereas RCX overrides it (if you switch between them and watch the preview window in RCX, you can see the image "pop" back to whatever gamma selected in RCX.)

That sounds exactly like what is happening.. So What is the point of adjusting your footage to how you need it in RCX if you cant then use that 'corrected' footage in your edit suit!! Crazy... Or am I just missing something obvious!

Before you load your R3D content into FCPX, launch RCX and load your footie into there. Then, add it all to a project, right click, and say Save R3D metadata. Then, import all your footage into FCPX. Now, when you make RCX adjustments, their will reflect in FCPX. It takes a moment, but your changes will come over. FCPX supports most of the adjustments, but things like HRDX is not supported.

I use it only to transcode stuff.

That is exactly what I am doing and changes in Rcx do appear in FCPX but when in FCPX it looks way brighter and washed out as if in a different colour space..

Sorry, buddy, I don't use FCPX, can't help You with that one. :nonod:

Gary,

If possible, can you send us a single frame R3D trim of your clip, along with an RMD with your settings? That way we can take a look and see what's going on for you.

Shoot me an email at redcinex at red dot com.

Thanks.
