Hey, we are looking at selling some of the footage we've shot as stock footage. Now often we are only looking for 20-50% of the r3d file, what is the best way to extract a portion of the R3D file so that we can send a 4k RAW file to interested parties?

thanks!

you'd have to extract a DPX sequence or use the new adobe workflow to generate a 4k file. To date there is no way to directly edit and trim R3D's (you require a render to codec)

I have also crossed this bridge with my stock images....I have to do an output to pro res 422....as this is what most folks want anyway, then i just preserve the original 4k raw in final cut server....in fact you can edit within fcp server and have a preview file for access. I can't imagine much call (at the moment) for 4k raw files. But that is the only way you can currently do it.
