First time we shot a magazine editorial entirely on Dragon and left the stills cameras and strobes home this time. Pulled the stills from the motion feed and really happy with the results.

Here´s a link to the teaser clip:

Nice work Ulf!
Would you mind sharing some of your set-up?
I have a gig coming next week where the goal is to extract stills and I can't still figure out if I should shoot only for stills or if I could find a good hybrid set-up.
There will be a lot of print coming out of this...

Thank you James and Vincent, glad you like it.
Vincent, without knowing what you going shoot it is not easy to advice. With our project the motion part had priority for us and we did not shoot extra for the stills, that really came out great in the magazine print. That said, I like motion blur, this was editorial work and it might not fit into your theme at all. We lit all scenes with HMI lights to a t 4/5.6 at 180deg shutter at 400ASA, 6K, lowest compression, except for the night exteriors which needed a little more push (ASA). All shot on old Nikon Ai(s) still primes. It was a pleasure to explore this new workflow, usually we carry around MF cameras and big strobes… Not sure what else might be of interest, just ask :)

Cheers,

Ulf

Thanks for the reply Ulf, it really helps figuring how you imagined that shoot.
My next gig has priority for stills and print so I will go for the lowest compression possible.
We're still supposed to produce a minute long clip in the meantime so I guess I will make good use of the new function of the S-M button on my side handle.

I'm not a fan of "fashion films" but you can see your art and skill and it's quite beautiful and interesting to watch.
