  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Desired country of emigration

Post industrial countries, stock meltdown, frustration, pollution, media's brain washing, insecurity, exploitation, etc,...

it's not for a man, it's not for a human being, it's for zombies....

You're right. :(

I also feel tempted to "emigrate" to a small town or village, raise crops, roses or herbs :), make babies and shoot butterflies and mountain tops in 3K RAW.

:)

Hmmm...yeah, women...(mumble)...but how about safety? I never was there.

I'm going there next week but my only plan is to relax on the beach in Rio.

I did a bit of research recently and found that since 2004 you can obtain permanent residency by investing $50k. For example, a piece of real estate, such as a rental apartment or condo-hotel unit (flat) or even by opening a small business, such as a restaurant.

Under this new Resolution, a permanent visa allows a foreigner to live and work in Brazil with the purpose of investing his or her own foreign funds in productive activities or investing in existing activities in Brazil.

I`m fed up with Berlin. Poverty, dirt, junkies and derelicts everywhere. It wasn`t like this when I was small, but now you see them each and every day on the streets, in the subways, everywhere. That`s why I`m fed up as well...

West Texas???:help: :help: :help:

If you have a fixed income or want time away to write the Great American or Great Bulgarian Screenplay, try Montevideo, Uruguay. It's more a European than South American capital, and is among the cheapest places on earth, despite a relatively high standard of living, stable conditions and pleasant coastal surroundings.

For sheer excitement, madness and change, though, nothing beats China these days, if you can stand the pollution and have a way to earn a living. Lots of interesting underground filmmaking, as well....

this is excellent starting point for really good movie script!

It's been done.... Road movies!

"What about Bounty one of Fijian islands?"

It looks great, except it looks like a tsunami could wash right over the island -- like Bogart described in Key Largo.

China? Don't think so. Secret police tracking everything you do and able to haul you away with impunity? Not my atmosphere.

Uruguay sounds interesting. Costa Rica perhaps and Belize have been described by some ex-patriots as wonderful tropical playgrounds.

New Zealand appeals to me, but I think you need like half a million dollars or more to even get in.

Right here in the good ol' USA for me. I want to spend more time in Alaska, but maybe that's because I'm just tired of people. Tired of traffic, bad attitudes, dealing with public stupidity.

I think I like Sanjin's suggestion too. I'll take my own island, please. Inhabited by pretty ladies, of course. ...Just as long as I can fly over to the mainland every couple weeks or so. Or if FedEx can give me air drops, I'd be happy too.

Yeah,

South America sounds mesmerizing ... and so does Central Asia -> India -> China...

One day, when\if I fix my incomes, I'll might just follow the whisper of my barbarian heart and make my own diarios de motocicleta...

Or diarios de bicicleta. :)

Then maybe a movie will be born out of that, but not necessarily...

... just maybe...

The great Screenwriter beats us every time we become too confident in our plans...

No movie is bigger than life...

P.S. Blah-blah... blah. :) [but the song is pretty nice]

Home sweet home...

Not cool, dude. I don't appreciate people taking pictures of my house like that. I think I need to upgrade my security. :gun:

China is where is it's at. I worked there as a communications consultant for a couple of years and made more money working 10 hours a week than many Chinese make in a year. If you are good looking by US/European standards, you will literally have the girls lining up outside your door. China is incredibly lively, dynamic and fun, but the pollution is a nightmare. I used to jog around the local park, and I would literally be choking, with my eyes burning. So pollution is a clear problem. China is definitely an adventure right now. Ten years from now it will not be such a wild, wild west atmosphere.

I bet you`ll NEED to get to the mainland to take some rest from your "activities" on your island of "pleasures"...but no problem, I`ll take care of the ladies in between, I don`t need breaks... ;-)

Emigrate? Never ever. Home sweet home. I dont want to loose best beer, best girls and best friends ...

Only for winter I sometimes change it for tropical island and waves.

Lived for 3 and a half years on the island of Yap in Micronesia. Then moved to the neighboring islands of Palau, see below:

Stayed here for 3 and a half years too. Tropical living is great but you can't stay too long in the confines of the Pacific otherwise, cuckoo.....currently in Indonesia but will eventually move back to the reality of life in a few more years. I have some ideas and projects to run here yet.

Where will I end up? No idea but getting good pointers in this thread.

Cheers,
Mark.
