  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Delivery times

Axel,

Did you get your RED ONE SSD module yet?

If it makes you feel a little better, I received a notification that my 256GB SSD drives are ready to ship. If you ordered them early, you might want to be on the look out for an e-mail from RED.

I have had 2 x 640gb drives on order since August 2010! Meaning that I should be waaay up the list for backorders...Still waiting for 128GB ssds as a replacement. What is up with servicing the UK market? I know "Prometheus" out of Panavision and "Jack" out of ARRI are swimming in Epic's and ssds! and the "Big Boys" are definitely opening up the Epic market, but to be honest, I was kind of doing pretty well on getting RED out there myself anyway...its starting to wind me up just a bit. Still waiting (just slightly less patiently).

Hi Gunleik,
The way I see it is that RED have lots of hollywood films shooting on Epic. The Hobbit, Prometheus, Jack etc. They all need ssds.
The fact is they have ssds and I don't. I am into 9 months of patiently waiting on backorder. I don't necessarily like it but I understand why. When Hollywood comes a knocking...
On the other hand, I have had to spend €170,000 on other companies cameras over the last 5 months. Money I would have gladly spent with RED....business does not wait on delivery schedules unfortunately...

That cannot possibly be the whole story.

It's not anymore.

My (3) 256GB SSDs are on their way to me and they are slated to arrive on Tuesday.

Keep in mind that I ordered them minutes after they hit the store.

My guess is that the 128GB solid state drives will take longer to deliver compared to the 64GB and 256GB sizes. After all, four of them are included with each Epic-M package and I would bet it was the most commonly ordered size.

My point is that I continue to wait for media to be delivered that has basically been on backorder for 9 months. Meanwhile "newer" or "more important" 128 SSD orders are being delivered. I'm sorry but I don't think that is right.

We just got our SSD Module and SSD Stations this morning. Order was placed on December 9th.

Our original Order was for 128GB SSDs, but when the Module came up for delivery, our Rep suggested we buy 64GB SSDs due to the Backlog of 128GBs.

Order to delivery was less than a week for the 64s. I would recommend going for them if you really are desperate for media.

However, I imagine the R1 SSD module might be the issue if you haven't ordered one already.
