Hey guys,

New to the board here and just had a quick question regarding Red's rep for hitting delivery dates. For all of you past owners, just wondering if they've been pretty good with this.

Also, barely got my preorder(Base I/O) and just wondering the likely hood of still being able to get it in March.

Anyhow, looking forward to getting my hands on one. Hoping to learn a lot on here since I'm new to the eco-system.

It just depends.

The Scarlet-X was pretty slow. I ordered that and was around the 250th order or so. I want to say it was September of the year before but I can't exactly remember when the actual announcement was but i didn't take delivery of it until January or February.

For Epic-X it was shipping already so I got it within probably 5 days of completing my order.

For the Dragon upgrade on the X I put in my order on the day they started taking orders in April of '13 I think it was. I didn't actually become eligible for the upgrade until September of '14. It took about 18-20 days to get the camera back including weekends. So its usually been a decent wait no matter how it shook out.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. Just curious how Red has been compared to other companies because I'm new around here.

Appreciate the response!

For the most part really good. I had some problems with my Scarlet X out of the gate, but that got fixed quickly.

Honestly it's hard to gauge because I've had 0 interactions with anyone at any other camera company in terms of customer service. Its usually through a third party.

depends where you are on the list, I'm waiting for allocation on upgrades for months technically but when allocated process goes fast x vs m vs cf vs woven etc... ravens just a waiting list so sooner you get on the better

Always varies. Right now they say the Forged Carbon Dragon upgrade is 4 weeks but I know people have now waited 8 weeks with no word. People have been waiting months for the new 7" touchscreen and even the old 7" touchscreen has people waiting far longer than the site says. Not sure if they're having trouble with their suppliers or their own assembly lines or what.

Sounds like a mixed bag, but not puttoff by it. I'm sure the wait will be well worth it. Was just hoping to have in March because of a gig that month. Crossing fingers.

the alexa mini wait line is long too, just like black magic wait line...same thing all around...

Generally Red has had a poor reputation on delivery schedules but I am certain they are very aware of this and have made a massive effort to improve. I have sent my Dragon back to Red and will recieve a Weapon in return in the next few weeks. Weapon and Red is on schedule. I seriously considered buying an Alexa SXT but they are still nowhere to be seen nor is Blackmagic deliverying their 4.6 K Ursa. When the Sony FS7 was released you could not buy off the shelf and had to go on a wait list.
The reality is that these cameras are specialised low volume kit and the economics of R&D and manufacturing make it difficult to fulfil initial demand. This is unlikely to change anytime soon.

My prediction, the Raven will ship on time.

RED used t be overly optomistic but as of late they are nailing it. The Dragon upgrades were delivered on time (after they were late).

Anyway, my prediction, by the end of February everyone who has one on order today will have their cameras.

I'm with you on that Troy. Crossing fingers.

I'm in the same boat as you - I've got one in April. I think my order went in on 10/8 though so hopefully not too far out.
