Cheers,
Dave,

There's no way they are still on target for the camera estimates. Shift all cameras by 3-6 months apiece...

EDIT: just went and looked at Jims Dec 3 announcement, not sure where you are getting your dates. S35/S35x are both "summer/fall 2009", which, given historical precedent, means end of October at bare minimum.

So you are thinking S35/S35x be the end of October is unlikely?

Jim said everything has been shifted back two months so summer/fall would become 'end of summer/end of fall'.

The first RED Ones were about 4 months late but now that they have been through this once their estimates may be better.

But the DSMC is a complicated system so who knows.

Jim also put disclaimers all over those dates saying that we should count on them changing, so I'm just planning on Jim changing them, as he said he would :-)

Yeah. . . these dates are fun to look at, but are almost certainly extremely optimistic. Hopefully, Jim & Company will prove me wrong, but I sure don't see it happening.

As for myself, I don't expect to see a FF35 Monstro Epic until May of 2010.

I thought that's what I did.

The idea is to get a visual perspective on the whole picture.....what's to be released and when.

When I look at it, it greatly helps with my buying strategy.
Will I buy 8 great Red S35 primes when I'm longing to get to the Epic FF35 6K (with +3 stops/full 4K chrominance) three months after?..not sure!
But maybe I do buy some Red primes and I do buy a S35 Scarlet (and upgrade my R1), how long will it be premium gear in the rent market i.e what's coming after my purchase, when?
Those kinda questions. It lays it out clearly for me......(albeit only relatively).

The idea is to put things in perspective! And with the published info to date, that's about right. Will they move south...of course.
But the other to consider is the first Red went out end of Aug 2007. I expect some will be still sold in Aug 2009, 2 years later!!
So even if I added 6 months (which is likely, agreed) to account for Red's curved time continuum, most people wouldn't be getting their's for another 12 months after that.

Eureka moment....I've got it!!

Jim has said ".....delivery dates are subject to drastic changes....count on it and you won't be disappointed."
Now where's the fun in that? Well here it is.....

Jim's Law
To translate times from the Red time continuum into Real time, add 60% to the remaining delivery time until actual delivery and you won't be disappointed.

it's that simple.....

Dave

ps: I know I could add other stuff to the diagram like R1 upgrade, lg format lenses etc. Swapped 2/3" fix & cine on diag and changed font!

...Agreed Steve!!

Hey David, thanks for the effort. Ive been emailed it a few times already and people are asking if it was officially an image from RED, you should put your name on there to avoid confusion.

Shawns got a good point too.. you should put the everything will change statement on there to so people dont start hunting you down personally when things slip heh heh heh...

Would be cool if you could tidy this up and sync it to the written schedule that Big Jon keeps updated more or less, I prefer pictures instead of words myself :)

Personally im not to sure about the font choice :); but thats your call.
