I ordered 15th Decemeber and just received my allocation email, which has caught me off guard and I'm not ready to pay! I spoke to RED UK this week and the suggestion was that my camera was still 1-2 months away and suddenly I need to pay up! I know the process is that if I don't pay quick enough I will just slip into the next allocation, but has anyone actually done that?

Thanks

Everyone seems tobe doing something like this. I spoke with my pal there today and they have gotten non stop calls saying " I don't have the funds yet! You caught me off guard!" They understand, since we were so patient with them, they will be patient with you too. When you pay, you are next in line. For instance: Say I get my allocation email today, but i can't pay till next week wed. They will essentially leave it in "ready to process, awaiting payment" for that time. When I pay, it will move forward into the allocation and shipping process ( which takes 3-5 days give or take). If you wait a month though, or even a few weeks, if they run out of scarlets in the batch yours was allocated in, then you will just have to wait until the next batch, at the front of the line with all the others who couldn't pay. Team Member correct me if i'm wrong?

I hope this isn't true. I don't think they'd charge a large group of people for a camera they knew wasn't shipping for 1-2 months...

I would also be unhappy if the allocation e-mail I received meant that my camera was still months away. It makes me nervous that so many people, encompassing weeks and many SO's, were allocated today.

I think you've read that wrong. I believe he had asked Red how far away his order might be and the responce was 1-2 months. But then soon after he was notified his camera was ready and needs to pay remaining balance.

The allocation email means we expect to have a camera to allocate to you within a week or so. Once you pay AND the camera is allocated, we start order processing. If you don't take delivery, we allocate your camera to next person in line.

Brent, does that mean that we can still add Red Armour to our order when we get the allocation notice?

My allocation email mentions RedArmor and states that it must be selected before order processing begins. So it sounds like you do have a little time after it is allocated but not much.

Yeah, I just re-read it, you're right, I read it wrong. =)

shure ? i got my allocation mail on feb. 9th, payment was done immediately.
today, more than 2 weeks later: no shipment mail, i was told by red europe yesterday: they have the cameras still not there.
thats the difference in "nearly ready for shipping" as the mail says and "really ready for shipping" as many of us would expect :-))).

so in my opinion the shipment (in my case) will happen at least a month after the allocation mail. correct me if i´m wrong.

but after a wait of more than 3 years, i don´t care about a month. or two. or three. i saw a lot of cameras shipped to people, which ordered a while behind me. just because i choosed the "wrong" mount...

i´m not complaining, because i will get anything i had never in my life. a camera for this price, giving this quality and hey: NEVER IN MY LIFE I HAD A CAMERA WITH A TITANIUM MOUNT !!!

Thanks everyone. I'm just negotiating a deal to lease body parts out for a few weeks.

Just to clarify; I was the one caught off guard, RED have done nothing wrong, nor was I suggesting that allocation=1-2 month wait. I think the system is very fair and the communication has been great each time I've spoken to them.

After 5 years of following the company's progress and desperately wanting to sign up to a 4k life, I'm SO EXCITED that my camera is nearly on it's way.
