Deftones | SEXTAPE

Way to go Zak! Of the several music vids you've posted with those crazy lights I have to say this one really transcends the effect and becomes a surreal string of beautiful and engaging images. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

thanks everyone.

there will be a more in depth article soon, but i'll add:

- there is no transitions, CGI, or compositing. just straight cuts. everything was done/shot in camera (including cc).

- we mixed several older color sciences with the latest build 30 to achieve different aesthetics, as well as different debayer qualities.

- custom modified lenses

Zac, as a huge Deftones fan, I cannot stop playing this, over and over.

Truly exquisite.

I just love this treatment - great work

How much clingfilm did you get through ?

cheers

Mike

Very nice surreal images - beautiful lighting control. And as a fan of small, tight productions and doing as much as possible in camera I love you achieved this with lighting and a two man crew! Awesome!

Its very rare nowadays that music videos really really blow me away visually. I would love to see it in a less compressed format but even still simply...wow, beautifully done and so organically cut together. I am far too restrained to do something like this...or have never tried. My colleague is a surrealist filmmaker and he amazes me with the way he pulls together the images I shoot for him.

Great stuff! Love the images! The song is good too...all good.

Really cool!

Will have been great to see how Zak managed the shoot, modified the lens and which the camera rig was used.

This etheral effects paint well the sentiment you feel in the water and how the light could break up. The treatment is very special, like it or hate it but i do like the fact Zak is trying to creat and play with "accidents" and manage to move with fluidity and close to the actors...

Thanks for doing this!

Thanks very much Vincent.
However it was not only me: Sextape was produced, directed, photographed and edited by Chad Liebenguth and myself.

Beautiful, just wonderfully beautiful, work. My hats off to everyone involved. I'm looking forward to reading the article.

What kind of lamp is used to make the green / blue laser dots?

Been looking for something similar to that but without colour.
