Hi everyone,

This is not a criticism of anyone but I would like to mention the fact that in the last 2 weeks I've purchased red 16gb CF cards from 3 different people and I have received toasters in the process. I got 2 defective cards from one person and one from two others. Given all the marks on the back I can only assume these cards all went through hell as constant rentals for years on end, but I have to wonder how long can these CF cards last, even if they are top quality products. Clearly there is only so much mileage one of these can take.

That begs another question, are the SSD red mags far better in quality and endurance versus the CF cards?

Yes, the SSD mags kick the shit out of the CF cards. As I posted on another thread, I would never buy media used. That's just asking for trouble since most camera owners/outfits/whatever term you want to use have been using the newer options for years now, making any CF purchase a dangerous gamble at best.

Hope you asked for your money back - it's pretty bad that folks are sending out items if they haven't checked they are working first!

However, check your camera CF slot and your CF card readers for slightly bent or broken pins - these can damage CF card contacts, and be the cause of CF card failure at your end.

SSD Redmags are built far more robustly than CFs, although any media can fail.
