Will RED one have an automatic correction of defect pixels ?

CCDs are vulnerable to gamma radiation which is encountered more often at high altitudes on airplanes.

CMOS may be more durrable based on the following I found on the net.

The complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor was invented by scientists at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a new solid image sensor [1], and compared with a charge coupled device (CCD) has superior properties such as higher integration, lower power consumption, smaller volume, better cost effectiveness and easier fabrication using the standard CMOS device production process. It can be widely used in many fields and has a potentially more extensive market [2, 3].

If the CMOS image sensor is used as a key component of high-speed cameras in satellites, it will be exposed to cosmic radiation including high-energy protons, electrons, etc [4]. The radiation can affect the properties of the CMOS image sensors and cause their deterioration, so it is necessary to study the effects of radiation damage.

I fly a lot, not yet with RED, but with DSLR and CMOS videos cameras and three chip cameras. I had never ever had any problem. Never heard about either.

The Red has dead pixel correction but it is not automatic. AFAIK it is done at the factory or in California. Presumably if a new dead pixel occurred on your sensor you could send it in for servicing and have it corrected.

as i heared sony got this function on his cameras

it should be something similar like a black calibration where the camera recognize the dead pixels, eliminates them and calculates the color for the pixel by his sourrunded pixels.

Arri new S35 sensor nearly 3K uncompressed RAW D-Cinemas D21 over Dual Link as well,

Even HDV JVC has such features without sending back the camera to the Factory.

RED should learn from this , and We respect you : Never too late " if you awake to do so,

Stew.

Are you talking in your sleep..?

I am a HKG CHINESE NEVER SLEEP that why we have 1.5 Billion people in the world to speed up our direction to what we have believed in our DREAMS.

Acording to the camera manual, it does.

If it's "Image data received from the Mysterium sensor is formatted as pixel defect corrected, but not color processed, 12 bit RAW data -- similar to high-end digital photography." you are refering to, I don't think this is what REDHKSC is looking for.

But I'm not sure...

WHOSe supplies Mysterium Sensor to RED ?

AM I have thwe right to post here Jarred ?

I follow your RULES mate before YOU PUT ME IN YOUR VIRTUAL RED Cage but I will be very happy with my SPACE in your REC SPACE.

CHEERS,

STEW.

If you take more time to formulate your posts, I'm sure it's no problem.
