Deep focus in large formats

Are large format cameras such as IMAX and the upcoming Red Epic 617 unable to achieve as deep focus as, say, 35mm cameras? Is it an issue of, the larger the camera sensor, the less depth of field?

Given the same field of view, angle of view, and aperture, the depth of field will be the same. It may be more difficult to achieve deep focus because of the difficulty of obttaining equivalent focal lengths for larger format, but there is no fundamental problem the would prevent you from obtaining deep focus on a large format.
