Is there anyone in this group using a Decimator 2 to convert SDI HD to SDI Composite? I need to do this and I can't get my unit to work. My understanding is if I have dip switches 5-10 all ON or all OFF it should output composite video. Nope!

hi tom,
i use it but i don't think it is able to produce analog video. sdi pal is only numeric, and "composite" is an analog term.

According to the manual available from the manufacturer:
http://www.decimator.com/Products/MiniConverters/decimator2/decimator2.html

The dip switches 5-10 affect the HDMI and Audio breakouts ONLY. They have zero effect on the Composite Output BNC signal.

Switch 1 must be selected to OFF for NTSC output or ON for PAL output.
Switch 2 selects whether an NTSC pedestal is applied. OFF for off, ON for on.
Switch 3 selects what the internal Aspect Ratio Converter does to the incoming signal to fit it into the selected output Aspect Ratio selected by Switch 4 - i.e. letterbox, crop or fullscreen.
Switch 4 selects what the output Aspect Ratio is. OFF for 16:9, or ON for 4:3

Input will handle up to 3G HD-SDI, HD-SDI or SD-SDI.

Check your two status LEDs which will tell you whether you have power and a recognised input signal.

The Decimator 2 is both an SDI to HDMI converter AND an SDI to Composite PAL or NTSC converter. So yes it can produce analog video.
