I am trying to decide on a URL for a site to market my services, equipment list, references, resume, bio, all that good stuff. Personally I do not like my name as an option because I think the potential for misspelling is great and its pretty long so I am just looking for input since my first name is spelled several ways I am just a little hesitant to commit to a long and hard to spell correctly domain name. I thought of some cool very short options and I just wanted to ask what others are doing and if you guys use your names or your brand for marketing purposes, I know many people that are doing one or the other and just was looking for input.

ps please no one register my name at this time lol... thanks guys

I'd say if your a very talented person and have a recognized name and are sought after than your website should include your name or part of, but if not maybe something like Driftwood Cinema ;)

Choosing names for films and businesses has been the hardest decisions of my life.. good luck

or some variation thereof. '-)

What I mean is, I think somehow linking you name with what you do is the best of both worlds. That is, a private citizen customer wants to know there is a person they will be dealing with while a big time customer wants to know there is an expertise in the entity they will be dealing with. If you can find a way to do both, you are golden.

The fact your last name is Merlen can be lead or pure gold... just depends on the alchemy you use.

You could pick a new top level domain (like .direct or .digital or .camera) from here and then register all possible mispellings. Should only cost at most a few hundred dollars. For example, merlin.digital and merlen.digital are both available.

Alternatively you could register all possible misspellings for your full name. It looks like they're all available.
