  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

December 1st Dragon Sensor upgrade price increase reminder

Some confusion there which i cleared up with the team there today. As Brent states its EOD today if an order is in and payment is confirmed you lock in the price. We have the team at Parker here till 7pm to help get customers lock it in.

I just went into the Red Store Hollywood with a check for multiple upgrades and was told the price increase was already in effect starting today.

Too late for us, we have to pay by check and there's no way to make it to Irvine. It's never good when receptionist turn down business and lose long term customers for the company.

Thanks goodness they didn't give us pleeeeeny of notice ;)

This could have been a last minute thing. He might have juuuuust gotten the money to do it. Unfortunate, but another perspective.

I'm still waiting for the $2k scarlets to pop up.

Our mistake and we will fix it, a Rep will touch base with you tomorrow.

David, you'll love it. Dragon mono is insane :)

I love the Epic Mono... I don't have much doubt the Dragon will be the Epic turned up to 11. BTW I love this graph, I've dragged it out a number of times to explain why desaturated color cameras don't make great monochrome cameras:

Looks like one of the color channels is clipping in your post Jarek... could it be how the jpg was made and uploaded?

Edit... looks like in CMYK encoding Yellow is saturated in the range that shows that clipping effect. In photoshop if you use 'discard color information' instead of just setting saturation to 0 you get closer to the Sat 0 case but still not quite the same.

Ah, I git it! ;)

dropped my scarlet in today for the upgrade:)
they said it would take up to 5 weeks :(

Mmm - was told 3 weeks for mine. Still have a small studio job to do on it, so the Epic won't be heading to Pinweood until next week... guess it'll be the New Year then. Bit of a pain as 5 weeks takes a big chunk away from my existing Red Armor.

My one took about 4 weeks, and that was back in August. Still waiting on the upgradable OLPF. Was told batches are still coming in slowly....

Let me confirm realistic TAT on a camera dropped off at REL for the upgrade....

EDIT: Five weeks is a conservative TAT given that RED is closed Dec 24, 25, 31, and Jan 1. So, between transit from REL to HQ then the 7-10 business day processing time then transit back to REL coupled with the holiday season and spike of upgrades coming in, I think five weeks is conservative on REL drop offs. I would think cameras dropped off there today are looking end of Dec/early Jan. So, closer to 4 weeks...

Was wondering what the turnaround time is on this. Dropped my camera off on the 17th and still waiting. Hopefully soon.
