  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DEC 10 LENS SHOOTOUT

I wish we knew what the Canon Cinema Primes were going to cost. I am most excited to hear about the Illuminas, but very excited across the board.

I heard 6800 - 24k per...not as affordable as I'd hoped

Shortcomings of Canon L glass like?

6800/lens seems like its the right ballpark. Yeah, I wish these were ready for this test. But I'm glad this test is about to happen - I think its the right time for a mid-level lens shoot-out. Thanks Tim.

URGENT UPDATE... we lost our ULTRA PRIMES and need at least 5 for the SHOOT OUT tomorrow. NBC Grimm swooped in to rent the only set in town.

Bump so someone sees tim's request, and...

Tim, could you have someone shoot rough behind the scenes of this? Very excited!

No way... Tim and company, gentlemen, you rock. Looking forward to the Panchros, Leica R's and RPP's. So different, yet all alluring for different reasons.

anyone tweeting from this?

Ill post some pics and a BTS video soon. Testing going better than we hoped.

One word : sweet! Looking foward to the report. :)

Hey All sorry i did not get to be there all day today but it was good to meet those that I did the 20 mins I was there.
Can't wait to see the results.

Hey Tim, thanks for hosting this event. It was very cool to see all these lenses being put through these tests. Really enjoyed working with the crack team of Portland DPs, Gaffers, and ACs who donated their time to help pull this off.

Looking over everyone's shoulder, I don't think I'm letting the cat out of the bag when I say the clear winner of the lens shoot-out is: "It Depends". :)

Personally, I'm most envious of Matt's cinevizex Leica R set. Best flares I've seen on the wides, and creamy skin tone. If I were to put together a "B" set to supplement my Illuminas those would be the ones.

Cool to hear Paul! I am seriously amped to hear how the results rolls out from you guys.

You and me both, Buddy! Went back to the hotel and started looking at eBay again, LoL.

So when and where will you guys release things?

It's definitely going to take Tim a while to sift through everything, edit, transcode and post. There was piles upon piles of footage. I saw a whole bunch of SSDs next to his laptop and a couple of those were 256's. The most dramatic footage is going to be the flare test. Leica-Rs 35mm and wider were exquisite.

I'll post BTS stills as soon as I get back to Chicago. Duclos and a few others were shooting too!

Makes sense. Since Tim doesn't appear to Tweet, is this page the page to wait on? (Not constantly for the days its going to take, lol)
