I was just wondering that if say you're just shooting 4K Prores HQ files only - and your epic W is set for 8K HD - Does the camera do a "Full" DeBayer from the viewed 8K HD sensor into the 4K Proress files ?? As opposed to say half DeBayering the image (or 1/4 / 1/8th etc) into the 4K files ..
The reason why I ask is that Red do refer to the Prores and the DNxHD as " Proxy files " which makes me think that perhaps the quality of the D Bayer is less than "full"..... Is this right???

Actually thinking about it, if the quality wasn't a full debayer then why would you have the options of the different flavours of Prores and HDxHD...... hummmmm ......Have I just answered my own question??

Many thanks Steve

I think it's full. Whatever it is it looks damn good. A stop cleaner than r3d's raw in most instances.

Good question... Helium 8K needs a beast of CPU/GPU power to bebayer full res 8K, i really do not think that the BRAIN can handle recording RAW (assuming 8K) and debayerin/encoding Full Res a the same time

Maybe 4K it's 1/2 and 2K 1/4? or 1/4 , 1/8 respectively?

Just a shot in the dark :)
