Dear RED: pls provide a flip function

So, the Scarlet specs look awesome. My only slight disappointment is that it has a fixed lens instead of a full-frame 35mm sensor with a Nikon lens mount.

It's pretty much a given that many Scarlets will spend their entire lives bolted to a 35mm adapter. So, dear RED, please can you provide a flip function to flip the image the right-way-up when using a 35mm adapter? Pretty please?

Yeah, a major disappointment... NO mater what the resolution this cam has, as far as controlling the dof, without a 35 mm adapter it's going to look like 16 mm film or video. Boring...

I was considering this to replace my EX1+LEX combo. If it really is 3000 USD I would definately get it but would have still have to use it with the LEX or similar. So a flip option would be indeed very welcome. Either that or interchangable lenses with full frame sensor

I would rather have the lens connected to the Scarlett body with the same bolt pattern/size as on the Red one, so we could remove the lens and replace it with a PL mount, Nikon mount or Birger mount.

Sure, come with a lens to make it approachable--but allow it to be removed to make it professional.

can i ask a naive question, as someone who mostly shoots with a DVX 100B...

is the DOF really that objectionable with a 2/3 chip?

Fincher shot ZODIAC on the Viper; doesn't that use a 2/3 chip? Obviously the RED is a better camera, and 35mm DOF would be better, but ZODIAC looked pretty good.

I'm just suggesting that in those instances where it would really matter, then maybe that particular job requires that you shoot with a RED ONE. And hopefully, you're getting paid for the job and they have a proper budget.

Indie filmmakers working out of pocket are going to make 2/3 work....
as will bigger shoots, using it as a crash cam.
and when someone mounts it to a helmet.
and when a documentary crew shoots run & gun style.

I don't know if you need an adapter for everything you shoot. I'd rather have the option of a little more leeway when it comes to nailing focus.

And i don't know if we need to be disappointed that this $3000, tiny, "handheld" camera doesn't have 35mm DOF. If it looks like 16mm DOF, is that really really horrible?

OK, I agree, I would have LOVED a Canon mount, and this is an instance where I can see using an adapter: less for DOF, and more for lens selection.

maybe if RED developed their own adapter.......
